A near-fine Batman Golden Age comic from 1942.
This is a stunning example. The Joker is the featured villain, and Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel and baseball icon Joe DiMaggio make cameo appearances in one of the Batman stories. Jerry Robinson created the cover, and he, Bob Kane and Jack Burnley provided the story art. A rare and early Batman title. Uncommon on the market, especially in the UK.
There are some rare book purists who turn their noses at comics, but these classic works of art have their place amongst any collection worth its salt and Bayliss Rare Books, as the next generation of dealer, are proud to be including such iconic pieces alongside the greats of rare book collecting.
Near-fine. Minor creasing to front and back covers. Minor wear to the spine. The black on the cover isn't faded which so often affects this title. The issue point of one staple is correct. As this was published during wartime, many of the wartime comics only featured one staple to save metal. Internally in near-fine condition with very minor staining to a couple of the pages. This has received no restoration whatsoever, which is uncommon as so many of these original comics have been blighted by restoration.
