Harry Potter Complete Collection | 1997–2008, complete first edition set signed and inscribed by J. K. Rowling, with four original Rowling letters and related works.

£65,000.00 GBP

The most unique and complete Harry Potter offering ever brought to market.

An exceptional and comprehensive signed Harry Potter collection, each volume personally inscribed by J. K. Rowling to the same young reader, preserved in mint condition and housed in custom-made cases.

The set comprises all seven Harry Potter novels in UK first edition hardbacks (mixed printings), each signed and warmly inscribed by Rowling to the same named recipient. Also included are signed first editions of Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Across the set, Rowling signs both as “Jo” and “J. K. Rowling,” reflecting the intimacy of her relationship with the recipient.

Accompanying the books are four original Rowling letters, three handwritten and one typed, each signed in full. Written in 2008 at the height of her fame, the correspondence reveals a deeply human side of the author, compassionate and unguarded. The handwritten letters appear on Rowling’s private stationery, embossed with her owl-head crest. In them she writes with warmth and humour, sending encouragement, gifts, and affection, at one point wishing the child “good luck with the chemo” and “lots of positive vibes.” In her final letter she writes, “I do hope you’re doing OK and enclose the signed books,” confirming that each volume in this set was sent personally by her.

Together, the books and letters tell a story of kindness and connection, showing Rowling not as a global phenomenon but as a writer reaching out with empathy to a young fan. They provide impeccable provenance and transform this from a signed collection into a profoundly moving archive that captures the humanity behind one of the most influential authors of the modern age.

Complete signed sets appear from time to time, but a uniformly inscribed series, accompanied by Rowling’s private correspondence and preserved in flawless condition, is virtually unheard of. This is the summit of Rowling material in private hands, a cultural artefact and a statement piece for any major library of modern literature. The only small defect to mention is minor loss to one page in Goblet of fire not affecting the text.

And if one were to pair this complete set with a wand..... well, that really would be magic.

Transcriptions of the Four Letters

1. 24 January 2008 – Typed letter, signed in ink

Dear Sharie,

Your Dad has written to tell me that you are unwell at the moment; I am so very sorry to hear it. You’re clearly going through a lot, I hope it’s not too gruelling. Your Dad also tells me that you are a huge Harry Potter fan, which obviously makes you one of my very favourite people.

I am sorry that this whole letter is not handwritten, which I usually like to do for people as special as you, but I type faster than I write (typing out all of the Harry Potter books myself has got my speed up).

I’m thinking about you and hoping you are not feeling too awful just now. I would love to hear how you are doing if you or your Dad would like to write and tell me. My direct address is:

Box 1, 44–46 Morningside Road
Edinburgh
Midlothian
EH10 4BF

I am enclosing a few things I thought you might like.

With lots of love,
J. K. Rowling

2. 16 February 2008 – Handwritten letter on owl-headed stationery

My very dear Sharie,
I loved everything you sent me. I shall use the notebook for writing, and I’ll think of you every time I open it. What a lovely thing to do.

I know my younger daughter, Kenzie, will fight me for the sparkly pen; she, like me, loves shoes, sparkles and feathers. Perhaps I’ll give her half of the handbag chocolate.

With lots of love and thanks,
Jo

3. 21 March 2008 – Handwritten letter on owl-headed stationery

Dear Sharie,
Tell your Dad it’s sometimes worth being a bit cheeky.
I loved your reasons for liking the books. Good luck with the chemo, I am thinking of you and sending lots of positive vibes.

With big love and hugs,
Jo

Dear Sharie,
I do hope you’re doing OK and enclose the signed books.
