Withnail and I | 1986, original first draft film script, signed by Bruce Robinson and owned by the producer, Paul Heller

Delighted to be offering a signed first draft script, with alternate ending, of the greatest cult film ever made, Withnail And I. A film that certainly had more than a little influence in my school expulsion at 16!

This original first draft of Withnail and I was sent to the renowned Hollywood producer Paul Heller by the director and screenwriter Bruce Robinson in an attempt to entice him to make the movie. This strategy proved successful and the film was made with Heller as producer.

Alongside the script is the letter Davidson sent to Heller and a note of authentication from Heller's wife. I love how Davidson’s letter is written. He knew the film was a tad ‘different’…..

This scarce first draft also contains the alternate ending in which Withnail takes his own life with Monty's shotgun after filling the barrel with red wine. Furthermore, the script is signed by Robinson.

And for those of you who haven't seen Withnail, get a bottle of red on a Sunday afternoon, wack it on the TV and settle in for quite the experience! I cannot recommend it more.
